Operation Christmas Child:

We’ll be packing our OCC boxes on Tuesday, November 14 with our buddies!

Fall Fest Movie and Food Party!
Our Fall Fest movie and food party will be on Tuesday, November 14!  The kids have chosen to watch “Minions: The Rise of Gru.”

Christian Studies:
This week in Christian Studies we’ll learn about the death of Eli the priest and what happened with the Ark of the Covenant after that.  We’ll talk about how God listens to our prayers and how He takes care of us, even when we aren’t faithful to Him.  We’ll also talk about King David (before he was king), Jonathan, and Saul.  We’ll then write a draft email to a friend, inviting them to church.

Math:
This week in math we’ll be finishing up our unit on place value, showing three-digit numbers in different ways (as hundreds, tens, and ones; in words; in pictures; written out).  Then we’ll begin our next module on using place value to count, look at number patterns, and add and subtract.

Language Arts:
This week in language arts we’ll be exploring using the vowel team “igh” for the long i sound.  We’ll brainstorm words that have that spelling in them, we’ll practice the sounds we’ve learned so far, and we’ll write words and sentences using the red words and concept words.

In reading we’ll continue reading our book Friends Around the World and we’ll look at pictures, captions, and other text features to help us understand the text.  We’ll also discuss things that are the same and things that are different between the different characters’ cultures.

Social Studies:

This week in Social Studies we’ll finish up our unit on locations.  We’ll do a vocabulary review, and then we’ll take our test using our magazines as a reference.

She graduated Summa Cum Laude from Concordia University in Portland, Oregon in 2010 with a degree in Early Childhood/Elementary Education with a minor in Professional Church Work. In May of 2014, Rebekah received her Master of Education degree from Heritage University. She started at Bethlehem in 2010.
